Leaving no stone unturned – sportscotland supports curling development
Sports Minister Stewart Maxwell and sportscotland Chief Executive Stewart Harris were in Lockerbie today (Tuesday 18 November) to officially open the upgraded Lockerbie Ice Rink, which received sportscotland funding and to announce the sportscotland annual investment in the governing body for curling, the Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC).

Employment of sports people and migration regulations
The visa requirements for entry into the UK are changing from 27th November 2008. The changes mean that any governing body who wishes to employ people from outwith the EU (or who's clubs wish to do so), need to be registered as sponsors with the Home Office. This process can take some time, so if this effects you then please sign up ASAP. For further information on the new visa system and regulations for sports people entering the UK please see the attached briefing notes and code of practice.

McRae honoured in Scottish Sports Hall Of Fame
Today, one of motor rallying’s greatest ever talents, the late Colin McRae MBE was honoured as one of four new inductees into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame at the National Museum of Scotland. Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon presided over the occasion, that also saw rugby legend David Sole OBE, Olympic swimmer Catherine Brown (nee Gibson) and disability sportswoman Isabel Newstead MBE recognised for their outstanding sporting achievements.

Cashback for Sports Facilities
Scottish Government in partnership with the Scottish Football Association and sportscotland have launched a new fund for the development of football pitches and facilities. This resource includes further information on the new fund and how to apply. All completed and signed application forms must be returned to sportscotland in a printed format by no later than Monday 24 November 2008. All application forms will be considered by the partners and an announcement will be made in January 2009 on which applications have been successful. Kinnaird to lead the way at Glenmore Lodge
sportscotland announced today that Bob Kinnaird has been appointed as the new principal of Scotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre, Glenmore Lodge. Bob, who has been chief executive of CairnGorm Mountain Ltd. for the last eight years will take up his new role in December 2008.
